Andrew Severns
Biography
Entitled Starstruck, Andrew's contribution to the Hollywood Sculpture Garden is an original pop-art skull rendered in gold and awash in radiant, psychedelic geometry — his signature pattern-driven style folded directly into the skull's structure. Painted in special neon pigments, the piece is designed to be seen after dark: under black light, the geometry ignites, and the skull seems to look back at you, caught starstruck.
Andrew Severns is a Los Angeles muralist and founder of Hollywood Mural Project, known for "the Canon" — his system for generating a mural's pattern from a site's own architectural dimensions so the design harmonizes with the wall rather than sitting on top of it. The style grew out of years spent immersed in quasicrystals, hypercubes, and higher-dimensional mathematics, after an earlier path through street art, music production, and graphic design. Since relocating to Los Angeles in January 2017, he has built a body of commissioned murals across Hollywood, Los Feliz, and Sherman Oaks defined by recurring themes of geometry, translucency, and interdimensionality — work meant not as decoration, but as an experience that shifts how a viewer sees the space around them.
